Canadian voice over Internet protocol carrier, Iristel Inc., has tapped Oracle Corpโs Acme Packet Net-Net Session Director to provide a single platform support for its VoIP services and customer-premise equipment and end-points.
The Markham, Ont.-based communications service provider (CSP) said the session border controller from Oracle will provide best of breed network protection and control and enable Iristel to scale out its IP services.
โA lot of organizations are heading towards IP and SIP (session initiation protocol) for office communications,โ said Samer Bishay, chief executive officer of Iristel. โWe have to address security and service quality concerns that come up during the transition to all-IP networks to maintain our competitive edge.โ
The Acme Packet Net-Net enables straightforward integration with Iristelโs other VoIP elements and will allow the company to support a wide range of standards-based, end-user unified communications servers, IP-PBXs (private branch exchange), IP phones and VoIP gateways, he said.
Oracleโs session director will also allow Iristel to secure and provide availability and scalability to residential and business VoIP, SIP trunking and hosted PBX solutions and control SIP interconnections to other service providers.
