Metalogix is building on its long track record of supporting and enhancing Microsoft SharePoint deployments by collaborating with the software’s maker to help migrate customers to its online version.
The Vancouver-based company is working with Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) to help organizations take their current SharePoint instances and move them to Office 365 SharePoint Online (SPO) to simplify end-to-end onboarding.
Metalogix’s SPO Migration and Management uses the Metalogix Content Matrix to move SharePoint users and content from source to target by combing custom-built MCS automation software and direct API integration with Content Matrix’s migration engine, the company said in a press release. The offering is aimed at helping organizations reduce the infrastructure and management costs that are typically associated with on-premises environments and onboard them quickly to a cloud model.
One of the areas Metalogix already focuses on is layering additional security capabilities onto SharePoint. Last fall it released ControlPoint 7, which includes additional embedded security intelligence to detect suspicious SharePoint user activity that threatens an organizations’ corporate information, including personally identifiable information (PII) of employees. The offering includes Metalogix Sensitive Content Manager, which monitors SharePoint around the cloud and tracks behavior anomalies and unauthorized access based on geo-location to protect against both internal and external threats.
With SharePoint 2016, Microsoft is trying to provide more flexible deployment operations for its stalwart collaboration tool and acknowledges industry trends regarding how organizations distribute corporate information and collaborate.
Released to manufacturing in mid-March, the on-premises server release of SharePoint 2016 was derived from Microsoft’s experience with Office 365 SharePoint Online, and according to the company, it’s the most comprehensively tested version of SharePoint because it was drawn from Microsoft’s cloud offering.
